ZEMIC's European business unit, together with FPGA electronics specialists, has developed an innovative weighing system for beehives called HiveWatch. It is an intelligent solution that provides accurate weight measurement of beehives, increasing productivity and giving beekeepers access to accurate information remotely, without stressing the bees.

The HiveWatch system allows you to weigh and monitor the status of each hive in the apiary using ZEMIC single-point sensors, which are selected according to the size of the hive and the expected weight of honey. This data is transmitted to the electronic unit from the FPGA, where it is processed using programmable algorithms and transmitted to the beekeepers in the form of reports and diagrams.

The main functions of HiveWatch include alarms in case of dangerous situations, such as swarming activity, end of food, etc. The beekeeper receives notifications via SMS, phone or email in such situations. The system also provides analysis and comparison of the behavior of bee families and the ability to work in a non-volatile mode thanks to a reliable battery.

HiveWatch allows you to connect up to eight bee scales to one electronic unit, and weight data is regularly transmitted to a web server via a mobile network. There is also the possibility of immediate data transfer in case of emergencies, such as a bee swarm.

Based on the experience of the European office of ZEMIC, ZEMIC Ukraine has started designing various versions of bee scales with various functions and reliable electronics for remote monitoring of hive parameters. The results of these works will be presented after the successful completion of prototype testing in real conditions.
